Description

The Mystery of the Guanches and the Pyramids

This half-day excursion will allow you to visit the Pirámides de Güimar ethnographic park and its spectacular Poisonous Garden, as well as strolling through the Plaza de Candelaria, where the basilica of the patron saint of the Canary Islands “La Morenita” stands by the sea.

We begin our visit to Pirámides de Güimar, a large open-air museum that brings together various routes and specialized gardens around pyramidal structures oriented to the sun on key astronomical dates. We will walk through its Poisonous Garden that houses more than 70 poisonous plant species from all over the world. A unique exhibition in the Canary Islands, which in its 1,500 m2 brings together some of the most toxic plants on the planet.

The Poisonous Garden, in addition to being conceived to promote the knowledge, conservation and enjoyment of a different botanical collection, also aims, from a playful perspective, to educate and raise awareness about the danger to man, of the poisons present in the plant world.

We will continue our route with a visit to Candelaria, where next to the beach, the basilica stands in honour of the Virgin of Candelaria, patron saint of the Canary Islands, surrounded by imposing bronze Guanche statues. A half-day excursion that will allow you to discover a little more about the culture of our Guanche aborigines!
